The G45 arrived in 2024 and is the sharpest break in X3 history so far: a smoother body, an illuminated grille, and a cabin from which nearly every physical switch has disappeared.
For control units that means more functions living on fewer modules. A unit that once ran the air conditioning now also has a hand in the display, vehicle access and voice control. A used one has to be written to the target car's chassis number before it will answer at all — and whether that succeeds depends on the specific module, not on goodwill.
The gearbox stayed conventional: the eight-speed automatic, mechanically the proven unit. It rarely fails, and reaches the market almost entirely out of accident-damaged cars. This model now yields doors, control units and rear lights.
