F98 is the X4 M. The number is treacherous, because the base car is a G02 and the three sister models — F95, F96, F97 — differ only in the final digit: X5 M, X6 M, X3 M.
For lighting the distinction is moot. The headlights are the same units as a G02's, in the same specification variants and with the same coding; there is no such thing as an M headlight. The same goes for switches, the ignition barrel and most of the cabin controls.
The F98 becomes its own car where the width begins: flared wings, its own aprons, its own sills, a vented bonnet. And at the back it stays an X4 — falling roof, its own tailgate, its own lights.
