The G08 is the iX3 — the electric X3, built from 2020 at the Shenyang plant and exported worldwide. It was BMW's first attempt at electrifying an existing model completely rather than developing a body for the purpose.
Which makes it straightforward to buy for: a G08 is a G01. Doors, wings, roof, tailgate, glass, mirrors and almost the entire interior come from the combustion X3 and work in both directions.
What does not fit comes down to the drivetrain. The grille is blanked and carries the iX3's own blue accent strip. There is a charge flap in the left rear wing instead of a fuel filler. Underbody, cooling circuits and the rear apron without exhaust cut-outs are all its own.
One detail that gets overlooked: the iX3 has a single motor, on the rear axle — there is no four-wheel-drive version. Front axle parts from an xDrive G01 will not simply transfer.
