For seven years the F11 was the company estate, and that still shapes what survives of them. These cars covered big mileages, were serviced properly, and were let go when the repair bills arrived — not because the body had given up. Panels and fittings are often in better condition than the registration year suggests.
With control units, check the original equipment list. The F11 was sold with wildly varying option packs across its life, and modules for comfort access, a tow bar or the larger navigation system only exist in cars that were specified with them. A unit that worked in the donor needs the right coding in the recipient — and sometimes a recipient that knows the function exists at all. Control units, mirrors and front wings are what we carry for it.
As far back as the B-pillar the F10 saloon is the same car: front wings, bonnet, front doors and mirrors are shared. The two part company at the suspension. Every Touring left the factory with rear air springs and no saloon did, so neither can stand in for the other there.
The 2013 LCI brought revised lamps and aprons; the body was left alone.
