The G68 is the long-wheelbase G60: stretched between the axles, longer rear doors, rear legroom from the class above. Cars like this exist for markets where the 5 Series is occupied at the back and driven from the front; in Europe it is the exception.
The extra length changes nothing about the driveline. Engines, gearboxes and most of the control units are the same as a G60's — the additional centimetres sit between the axles, not in the hardware. For a gearbox or an engine module the short-wheelbase car is a perfectly good donor.
Anything that knows about the length is a different matter: doors, rear quarters, rear cabin trim and the looms running to the rear doors. There the long car is its own vehicle.
As on the G60, assistance sensors in the aprons, mirrors and windscreen need calibrating after fitting, and the electric version uses the same body. Control units and gearboxes are what has reached us from this model so far.
