The 2 Series Coupé F22, 2014 to 2021, is the direct successor to the 1 Series Coupé and was for years the smallest rear-drive coupé BMW made. With the F23 Convertible it forms the rear-drive half of the 2 Series family — the other half, the Active Tourer and Gran Coupé, drives the front wheels and has nothing mechanically to do with this car.
That is the distinction that matters most here. At BMW, "2 Series" is not a statement about platform. A part from an F45 Active Tourer will generally not fit an F22, however alike the badges look. On our shelves that means condensers, door cards and fog lamps.
The F22 shares its mechanicals and many fittings with the F20/F21 1 Series of the same era, but not its body: wings, doors, rear quarters and the entire tail are coupé-specific.
An LCI arrived in 2017 with revised headlights and rear lights. On the F23 Convertible the nose, bonnet, wings and doors are identical — everything behind the B-pillar is not. The M2 Coupé F87 has its own wider wings and bumpers.
